* * * Butthole Surfers, “Independent Worm Saloon,” Capitol. They’re now on a major label, and with production by Genuine Rock Legend John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin they sound more like a real rock band than ever before. The result is the Texas weirdos’ most focused and intense album yet, though it’s still twisted and far from the mainstream--sort of Ministry with a smiley face.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four stars (excellent).
