Funds for Police

* The Times in its May 5 editorial, “More Cops? Sure, but How?” finds the Prop. 13 requirement of a two-thirds vote unreasonable because “it allows a minority of the electorate to subvert the wishes of everyone else.”
Does The Times find it reasonable that one segment of the population votes for another one to pay for its services? Is it reasonable for us to vote that The Times pay for increased policing of the city? The two-thirds requirement brings some parity to the natural tendency of people to vote for services as long as someone else pays for them.
How do we get more cops? Simple: We all pay for them.
