Regarding the upside-down map in Palm Latitudes’ Melting Pot (“Over, Under, Around and Through,” by Bill Manson, April 11): It was the historian Salvador de Madariaga of Spain who said: “Northern superiority has a lot to do with the fact that maps are hung with the north on top and the south on the bottom.”
Geography does indeed need to be revised. For example, who other than Anglos refers to Canal de la Mancha as “the English Channel.”
