Wilma Alice Burt, 75, Hermosa Beach activist who advocated orderly beach development. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Mrs. Burt worked as a radiology technician in Missouri and Alaska before moving to Hermosa Beach in 1956. She became a tutor in special education, and was active in various local political causes. She fought for homeowners rights and to keep beaches free of over-commercialization, but also championed tideland oil drilling rights for Macpherson Oil Co. May 19 in Hermosa Beach.
