The following are selected entries from the crime logs of local law enforcement agencies between July 12 and July 18:
Glendale
Belaire Drive, 1800 block--After prying open a classroom door, thieves stole a VCR of undetermined value from an elementary school in a theft discovered July 12.
North Cedar Street, 100 block--Thieves stole a copier valued at $1,800 and other household goods from a residential garage between July 13 and 14.
South Everett Street, 300 block--Thieves forced open a window to steal cash and jewelry valued together at $1,750 from a residence between 1 and 5 p.m. on July 14.
Fern Lane, 1900 block--Entering through a side door, thieves stole a VCR, television and stereo equipment of undetermined value from a private residence. The theft was discovered July 15.
California Avenue and Orange Street--Thieves with a gun approached a woman on the street and stole approximately $312 at 4 p.m. July 15.
Sonora Avenue and San Fernando Road--Walking up behind a woman, thieves grabbed her purse, containing $400 cash and $100 worth of food stamps, from her shoulder at 5:40 p.m. July 15.
Glendale Galleria (South Brand Boulevard, 100 block, and West Broadway, 200 block)--A suspected thief arrested for shoplifting at a Mervyn’s department store at 2:45 p.m. was released, then arrested again for shoplifting at a Nordstrom department store at 8 p.m. July 16.
North Glendale Avenue, 200 block--Claiming in a note to have a gun, a man wearing a red wig and women’s makeup stole $2,835 from a bank at 4:25 p.m. July 16.
West California Avenue, 300 block--Possibly entering through the front door of a residence, thieves stole household goods valued together at $2,340 between 4:45 and 5:45 p.m. July 17.
La Crescenta
Ramsdell Avenue, 4400 block--Vandals broke into a classroom and went through a file cabinet, causing about $600 in damage. The break-in was discovered July 12.
Foothill Boulevard, 3100 block--Thieves ripped out two screens, then reached in through security bars of a business to open windows and steal a printer valued at $500. The theft was discovered July 12.
Cloud Avenue, 4400 block--Vandals broke the window of a preschool, causing causing $175 in damage. The break-in was discovered July 12.
Atwater Village
Garden Avenue, 3400 block--Thieves removed a screen and opened a window to steal radio and video equipment valued together at $1,800 while the resident was asleep between 12:30 and 11 a.m. July 16.
Casitas Avenue, 3100 block--While walking home from a liquor store, a man was knocked down by a thief who stole $200 at 3:45 p.m. July 16.
Eagle Rock
Loleta Avenue, 5000 block--After prying open a rear window, thieves entered a residence, ransacked the premises and stole guns and jewelry valued together at $8,050 between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 15.
Echo Park
Lakeshore and Scott Avenues--A thief claiming to have a handgun stole $46 from a man at 5:50 a.m. July 13.
Glendale Boulevard, 1300 block--Gun-wielding thieves stole $400 from a business at 7:20 p.m. July 13.
Mayberry Street, 2300 block--Thieves forced open a window and ransacked a residence, stealing cash and jewelry valued together at $1,400 and destroying toys and schoolwork between 2 and 5:30 p.m. July 14.
Allesandro Street, 1500 block--A thief with a gun approached two people as they left their car, stealing cash and jewelry valued together at $130 at 1:15 a.m. July 15.
Silverwood Terrace, 1700 block--A thief with a gun stole cash and jewelry valued together at $505 from a man at 4:25 p.m. July 15.
Sunset Boulevard and Everett Street--Gun-wielding thieves stole a wallet containing $46 from persons waiting for a bus at 9:45 p.m. July 15.
Sunset Boulevard and Everett Street--After a struggle, a thief stole a purse containing $235 at 8:40 p.m. July 17.
Glassell Park
Division Street, 3500 block--Posing to ask for directions, a thief grabbed a woman’s jewelry valued at $300 at 8 p.m. July 15.
Verdugo Road, 3200 block--Entering through an unlocked rear door, thieves stole a TV and telephone equipment valued together at $1,095 from an office building between July 16 and 17.
Highland Park
North Avenue 51, 1500 block--A thief took cash and jewelry valued together at $2,780 from a woman’s safe. There were with no signs of forced entry. The theft was discovered July 12.
North Avenue 54, 800 block--Thieves entered through a high school’s rear door and stole video equipment and clothing valued together at $2,371. The theft was discovered July 12.
North Figueroa Street, 6300 block--A woman paid $6,500 for what con artists claimed was a gold bar worth $20,000, only to discover the bar was brass. The fraud was perpetrated at 10 a.m. July 12.
North Figueroa Street, 6300 block--Thieves took property valued together at $85 from a store and left wielding their guns at 6:30 p.m. July 14.
Armadale Avenue, 1400 block--Thieves forced open a rear door to a residence and stole cash and a radio valued together at $2,395 between 4 and 4:30 p.m. July 15.
North Avenue 65, 700 block--After prying open a screen and forcing open a window, thieves entered and ransacked a residence, stealing $30,000 between 9:15 and 11 a.m. July 15.
Avenue 57 and Figueroa Street--Four thieves beat a person, stole a radio valued at $20, then fled in a car driven by a fifth person at 3 p.m. July 15.
North Figueroa Street, 5500 block--A thief with a gun stole $1,800 from a business at 8:50 p.m. July 16.
North Figueroa Street, 5900 block--Approaching a woman on the sidewalk, a thief pulled her purse valued at $40 off her shoulder at 6:25 p.m. July 17.
Los Feliz
North Hillhurst Avenue, 1800 block--Thieves removed a section of the door to a fast-food restaurant and stole $1,255 from the register between July 12 and 13.
North Madison Avenue, 1100 block--A woman was hit on the head from behind by a thief who stole her purse containing $25 at 8:20 a.m. July 13.
Hillhurst Avenue, 2000 block--As a guard entered a market to make a pickup, gun-wielding thieves stole $43,177 from the guard and the store safe at 10:30 a.m. July 14.
Hollywood Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue--Thieves put a sharp object to a man’s back and stole his wallet containing $59, then took his car only to abandon it when it stalled about 100 feet from the location at 5:40 p.m. July 14.
North Rodney Drive, 2000 block--A thief with a stick came up behind a woman, hit her on the head and legs, then stole her purse containing $65 at noon July 16.
Edgemont Street, 1700 block--Thieves grabbed a pizza delivery person after making a delivery and stole $45 at 10:20 p.m. July 16.
Mount Washington
North Figueroa Street, 5100 block--A thief with a gun entered a minimarket and demanded beer, stealing $36 worth at 2:10 a.m. July 12.
Crane Boulevard, 300 block--After prying open a rear window, thieves entered a residence, ransacked the home and stole radio and video equipment valued together at $4,940 between 10 and 11:30 a.m. July 13.
Avenue 50 and Marmion Way--Putting an ice pick to a woman’s stomach, a thief stole food and cigarettes valued together at $3 from her at 9 p.m. July 13.
North Avenue 52, 200 block--Thieves forced open a locked window to enter a residence and steal a TV and clothing valued together at $1,128 July 17 or 18.
Silver Lake
Silverlake and Sunset boulevards--Thieves stole a wallet containing $690, then hit and kicked their victim between 1:30 and 1:45 a.m. July 12.
Kenilworth Avenue, 2000 block--Thieves broke into a private residence and stole video equipment and household goods valued together at $2,960 between 12:30 and 3 p.m. July 15.
Cedar Lodge Terrace, 1900 block--After forcing open a rear door, thieves stole computer equipment and tapes valued together at $4,130 between 5 and 7 p.m. July 15.
Hyperion Avenue, 2900 block--Thieves forced their way into a business through the roof, then tunneled through a wall to enter a second business to steal electronic equipment valued together at $5,234, but fled the location without the property at 2:45 a.m. July 17.
Glendale Boulevard, 2300 block--After a man accidentally left his key in the door lock, thieves entered his apartment and stole a TV and video equipment valued together at $3,230. They also stole the man’s car using his keys between July 17 and 18.
