An immigration agent at Los Angeles International Airport has been charged with sexual battery and other charges against a female employee, the city attorney’s office announced.
Arthur Alvarez, 39, was charged with one count of sexual battery and two counts each of lewd conduct and indecent exposure. He is expected to be arraigned in West Los Angeles Municipal Court next Tuesday.
The charges against Alvarez stem from a series of incidents that allegedly occurred last summer and fall when he was port director at the Immigration and Naturalization Service station at LAX, Deputy City Atty. Lawrence Webster said. Alvarez was relieved of INS duties pending resolution of the criminal case but remains on the payroll, an INS spokesman said.
