Firefighter Hurt, Mobile Home Destroyed in 2 Separate Blazes

A 40-acre brush fire destroyed a mobile home and several cars in the Antelope Valley, one of three fires that broke out Friday in the Santa Clarita, Antelope and San Fernando Valleys, a Los Angeles County Fire spokesman said.

Flames erupted shortly before 5:30 p.m. near 50th Street East and Avenue F in Lancaster, county fire officials said. About 150 firefighters battled the blaze by land and air. The cause of the fire, which was contained about 7 p.m., remained undetermined Friday night. No injuries were reported.

In an unrelated blaze, about 55 Los Angeles city firefighters fought flames that broke out about 6:45 p.m. on the second floor of a clothing manufacturing business at 15050 Delano St. in Van Nuys, department spokesman Bob Collis said. A firefighter who suffered second-degree burns was taken to Sherman Oaks Community Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze about an hour later. No cause had been determined Friday night and a damage estimate was unavailable.

County firefighters also battled a 20-acre brush fire at Alderbrook Drive and 12th Street in Newhall in the Santa Clarita Valley. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
