American searchers in Laos have found human remains that could be those of U.S. servicemen from the Vietnam War, a U.S. official said. About 30 members of the Pentagon task force are conducting a monthlong search with their Laotian counterparts at aircraft crash sites where Americans were lost. The search is concentrated in the central province of Xieng Khoang, about 75 miles north of the capital, Vientiane. A task force employee in Bangkok said some remains have been found but was unable to give a number. Of the 2,252 servicemen listed as missing throughout Southeast Asia, 514--almost all airmen--are listed as missing in Laos.
