Booth Gains Girls’ Junior Golf Final

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza advanced to the final of the USGA Girls’ Junior Golf Champinship with a 2-and-1 victory over Kelli Kuehne of McKinney, Tex., Friday at Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa.

Booth, 17, had birdies on three of the first six holes to take a two-hole lead. Kuehne, 16, never drew closer. Booth, who reached the semifinals of the tournament in 1990 and ‘92, will face Erika Hayashida of Lima, Peru, in the championship match at 9 a.m. today.

Hayashida, 17, who gained the quarterfinals last year, beat Anna Umemura, 14, of Honolulu, 3 and 2, in the other semifinal.
