Building Boom: PCL Construction Services in Irvine has started building the largest State Farm Insurance regional office in the nation, a $37-million, 600,000-square-foot facility in Bakersfield.
The four-story office building will employ 1,000 workers and be ready for occupancy in April, 1995.
“A lot of construction companies are struggling, but these guys are going the opposite way. They’re growing,” said Bob Brogger, a PCL spokesman.
Employee-owned PCL is now working on the $45-million John Anderson School of Management at UCLA and a $70-million renovation and addition of the Long Beach Convention Center.
The company says it expects to bid on the $120-million renovation of the Ontario Airport, an $80-million water treatment facility in Riverside and a $50-million project on the Los Angeles Metro Red Line.
