Ventura County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an armed holdup at a Fillmore market that may have been committed by the same pair who robbed a Piru market last week, authorities said.
The robbery in Fillmore occurred at the La Unica Market, 505 Old Telegraph Road, around 6:10 p.m. Sunday. Two men wearing ski masks and armed with a sawed-off shotgun burst into the market, told the clerk to lie down and took cash from the register.
A similar robbery occurred at a family-owned market in Piru on Friday afternoon.
Sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Kemp said the descriptions of the robbers from the Fillmore and Piru robberies were similar. Witnesses described both as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and between 150 and 170 pounds.
Sheriff’s detectives have not identified any individuals as suspects, Kemp said.
