Birtcher Pitch a Hit: Birtcher Construction Ltd. in Laguna Niguel was recently selected to construct a $14.6-million baseball stadium in Lake Elsinore. The 6,000-seat stadium is the city’s largest project to date.
“The stadium is designed to promote a community feeling and give something for the community to rally around,” said Andrew Youngquist, president of Birtcher. “We went after this because we know other cities may be considering building similar stadiums.”
Lake Elsinore officials are negotiating with the California League, the minor league system for the major league teams, to play in the stadium for the 1994 season. As a result, Birtcher Construction crews will work day and night to ensure the stadium is completed in time for the start of baseball season next April. The stadium will be designed as a more back-to-basics, traditional style baseball park, the company said.
