Vince Coleman’s future with the New York Mets is expected to be determined this week after the outfielder met with club and baseball officials Tuesday. Mets attorney David Howard said a decision could come “as early as (today), hopefully Thursday at the latest.” . . . Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher Randy Tomlin will have elbow surgery and will not pitch again this season. . . . The Atlanta Braves placed outfielder Deion Sanders on the 15-day disabled list after doctors determined he was suffering from a respiratory infection.
