UAL Unions Offer $3.3 Billion in Cuts: United Airlines’ unions are proposing that employees trade five years of wage and benefit cuts totaling $3.345 billion for a majority stake in the airline’s parent company. The savings figure, contained in a letter sent this week to United pilots from union leaders, has not changed during negotiations since the ownership proposal was first made last month, the letter says. The letter provides the first firm indication of what unions have offered for control.
