LOS ALAMITOS : City Attorney’s Contract Renewed

The City Council this week renewed City Atty. Thomas W. Allen’s contract, giving him a 2.4% increase in his hourly rates.
Allen is paid a $2,000 monthly retainer for 18.78 hours of legal services each month. That includes attending council meetings.
Under his new contract, Allen will receive $106.50 per hour for services beyond 18.78 hours, starting Sept. 1. Previously, Allen was paid $104 per hour, according to City Manager Robert C. Dunek.
Dunek said the increase followed a favorable evaluation of Allen’s work by the City Council this month.
In addition, the city will pay for Allen’s contributions to the Public Employees Retirement System and for his medical, dental and disability insurance, Dunek said.
“This is a pleasant place to work,” said Allen, 55, who has been city attorney for the past 20 years. He is also the city attorney of Stanton.
