Venice : $10,000 Offered in Homicide

Los Angeles police are hoping a $10,000 reward will help them solve a 2-year-old Venice murder case publicized on tabloid television programs.
The City Council this week approved the reward for information leading to a conviction in the murder of Joseph Dennis Cole, a 30-year-old Oakwood resident killed in front of his home during a 1991 street robbery.
The killing remains a mystery despite a long police investigation and attention on the television shows “Hard Copy” and “Prime Suspect.”
The reward, sponsored by Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, will be in effect for 60 days.
Earlier this year, the council approved a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for a string of firebombings that damaged the homes of several Oakwood anti-crime activists. That offer expired last month but Galanter may seek to renew it, a spokesman said.
