A 16-year-old boy was listed in critical condition after being shot in the throat by two men who confronted him outside an Oxnard restaurant early Sunday, officials said.
The boy, who was not identified because of his age, was shot once in the neck about 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of 5th Street. Officials could not say Sunday where the victim lived.
Police are searching for two men in their late teens who fled the scene in a red Toyota Celica convertible with a black top.
Investigators said the pair confronted the boy as he was leaving a restaurant and challenged him to a fight. One of the suspects then pulled a gun and shot the boy once in the neck. No one else was injured in the attack.
