* STREET BARRIER: The Hawaiian Gardens City Council is to consider Tuesday night whether to mount a legal challenge to stop Long Beach from blocking off a street at the cities’ border. The council meets at 8 p.m. at City Hall, 21815 Pioneer Blvd., Hawaiian Gardens.
* SCHOOL CUTS: Officials of the financially strapped Compton Unified School District are expected to authorize a new round of budget cuts, including layoffs of about 60 non-teaching employees. The school board meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 620 S. Tamarind Ave., Compton.
