Three Orange County high schools have been named Blue Ribbon schools, a prestigious national award presented by the U.S. Department of Education to recognize the top schools in the nation.
Selected for the honor were Brea Olinda High School, Los Alamitos High School and Westminster High School.
School representatives were honored in Washington at a White House reception. Schools are selected after an extensive evaluation of programs, including teaching techniques, academics, students’ post-graduation success, leadership, student participation in activities and decision-making techniques, to name a few.
Eighteen schools in California were honored out of 265 in the nation.
