SANTA ANA — A 6-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man were shot Thursday in what police said was gang cross-fire in the 1900 block of West Myrtle Street.
Just before 6 p.m., an apparent gun battle broke out between rival gangs near Myrtle and Wood streets, said Sgt. Jim McDaniel of the Santa Ana gang unit.
The girl apparently was hit by a stray shot. Both she and the man were taken to a local hospital, where they were reported in fair condition Thursday night, police said.
