Regarding your article about hotel room availability during World Cup (“Getting Foot in Hotel Door,” March 13):
True, World Cup will use many rooms in Washington, but there are 23,000 hotel rooms just in the District of Columbia, and another 40,000 in the suburbs. That is a lot of rooms to fill. But Washington is used to big events and is capable of handling events such as World Cup with plenty of room to spare. Travelers should not be afraid of rates either--all of our hotels offer reduced rates on weekends, during holiday periods, etc., all year long. And most hotels offer low rates and “family packages” throughout the summer . . . and that will be the case this summer as well.
