SAN BERNARDINO — Firefighters fully controlled a wildfire Saturday sparked by children playing with matches that burned 105 acres in San Bernardino County.
The blaze near Rancho Cucamonga was contained early Saturday and was fully controlled by 6:40 p.m., said Fire Capt. Steve Humeston.
Two 10-year-old boys admitted setting the fire, officials said. Fire investigators may bill the children’s parents for the firefighting costs, which could run into the thousands of dollars, officials said.
The blaze was reported Friday evening on state land covered with shrubs and brush. It burned within 200 yards of several expensive homes before fire crews and water-dropping aircraft halted the advance, officials said.
