Irvine Seeks Public’s Views on Services

IRVINE — The city has scheduled a public City Services Workshop next week to ask residents what city services and programs are most important for the next decade.
City officials say they do not expect any cuts in services for the budget year beginning in July to result from Orange County’s bankruptcy. But they are asking for help from residents in an effort to change the way city government operates.
“We really need to assess what the public feels is important so that we can translate that into public policy,” Councilman Greg Smith said. “We’re taking the opportunity of our overall look at county government to also look at our own house. We need to see if there are things we should be doing differently, or maybe not be doing at all.”
The workshop is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Senior Center, at Lake Road and Alton Parkway.
