Sun Microsystems Inc. said Monday that its fiscal third-quarter profit nearly doubled on a high jump in sales. The performance exceeded Wall Street expectations.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based maker of computer chips and workstations earned $107.5 million, or $1.09 per share, for the three months ended April 2. It earned $57.5 million, or 60 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter was $1.51 billion, up 26% from $1.20 billion a year ago.
