Litton Systems Receives $4-Million Settlement

Litton Systems Inc., the Woodland Hills-based maker of defense guidance systems, said it has received $4 million from Herley Industries Inc. of Lancaster, Pa., as part of a legal settlement involving a dispute over trade secrets.
The company said it sued Herley in Superior Court in Essex County, Mass., in April, 1992, alleging that Herley was using microwave-tube technology belonging to Litton. The court ruled in Litton’s favor and a trial date had been set to determine damages, Litton spokeswoman Kathleen Wailes said. Litton declined to disclose any other terms of the settlement.
Microwave tubes are power supplies that regulate, store and amplify power in radar devices and other scientific instruments.
