Clinton Meets the Press Today

WASHINGTON — President Clinton has scheduled a news conference for 6 p.m. PDT today, with a brief opening statement focusing on the debate over welfare reform, the White House announced Monday.
Affirmative action and relations with Russia are likely topics for reporters’ questions.
ABC, CBS and NBC had made no decision Monday on whether to air the conference live. CNN, C-SPAN and America’s Talking said they would televise it live; CNBC said it would not.
