Police identified the charred body of a man found in a torched Ford Escort as missing automated teller machine technician Robert T. Walsh and said Walsh had been fatally shot in the head with a large-caliber gun before he and the vehicle were set ablaze. The 60-year-old former U.S. Marine and Fullerton police officer--who worked for Wells Fargo Armored Service Corp., a security service company not affiliated with Wells Fargo Bank--was not armed, but wore a bullet-resistant vest and carried a beeper, company spokesman Joe Allen said. Walsh vanished Friday afternoon in Orange after servicing an ATM machine at a Wells Fargo Bank at South Tustin Street and East Collins Avenue, police said. His car was found Sunday when it burst into flames.
