PASADENA : 17-Year Veteran Named as Acting Police Chief

A 17-year veteran of the Pasadena Police Department was selected Tuesday as acting police chief.
Robert Huff, executive commander of the department, replaces Chief Jerry Oliver, who left to take over the top post at the Richmond Police Department in Virginia. The appointment takes effect Saturday.
“Bob Huff’s career with the Pasadena Police Department has encompassed a wide range of experiences earmarked by a flair for leadership and innovation,” said City Manager Philip A. Hawkey.
Huff, 48, joined the Santa Barbara Police Department in 1974, then moved to the Pasadena department four years later, working his way up through the ranks.
