DANA POINT : Major Street May Get Lower Speed Limit
- Share via
The city’s Traffic Improvement Commission has recommended lowering the speed limit on Dana Point Harbor Drive from Street of the Golden Lantern to Cove Road to 30 m.p.h.
The panel also recommended keeping the speed limit at 50 m.p.h. on Pacific Coast Highway between Crown Valley Parkway and Niguel Road, and keeping it at 35 m.p.h. on Crown Valley Parkway from Pacific Coast Highway to Sea Island Drive while installing curve warning signs. More than a dozen residents at the commission’s meeting last week were opposed to 5-m.p.h. speed limit increases on the two sections of roadway.
The City Council will have final approval over any changes. The California Department of Transportation must also review any city decisions involving Pacific Coast Highway.
A recently completed city traffic survey recommended 5-m.p.h. speed limit increases on parts of Pacific Coast Highway and Crown Valley Parkway.
