SEASON AT A GLANCE: Gillies entered the week with a 10-3 record and a 0.66 earned-run average. She had 74 strikeouts in 84 1/3 innings for the Centurions, who are ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division II. In the past two weeks, Gillies went 6-0, allowing two earned runs in 43 1/3 innings.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: The 5-foot-11 right-hander led Saugus to the championship game of the Woodbridge tournament by pitching shutouts against Mission Viejo (5-0) and La Palma Kennedy (3-0). She scattered eight hits over 14 innings, struck out 13 and walked four. Gillies and teammates Jeanine Giordano and Kelli Kranz, last week’s athlete of the week, made the all-tournament team.
