SEASON AT A GLANCE: The senior right-handed pitcher is one of the Valley’s best prospects and he said he plans to sign a professional contract after the June draft. Nix (6-foot-6, 210 pounds) entered the week with a 5-2 record, a 0.80 earned-run average and 69 strikeouts in 44 innings. He is also one of the top hitters in the City Section with a .500 batting average.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Nix was the class of the Babe Herman tournament. He led Monroe to two victories by pitching 10 scoreless innings, striking out 17 and walking two while allowing five hits. Nix was also nine for 17 with nine RBIs, two doubles and three triples. He was chosen most valuable player of the tournament.
