COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Huter, 3 Freshmen Propel Master’s

Jeff Bennett’s run-scoring single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning gave The Master’s College a 4-3 victory over Claremont-Mudd in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Newhall.
Shortstop Matt Huter had five hits, including a home run. Danny Cato and Derek Bell each had two hits for the Mustangs (17-16).
Bennett, Cato and Bell are all freshmen.
Chad Bourgeois, a junior right-hander, picked up the victory in relief of Mark Balch, who was injured in the third inning. Bourgeois gave up three hits and one earned run.
Oxnard 7, Cuesta 3--Raudel Flores’ two-run triple in the seventh inning broke a 3-3 tie and sparked the Condors (18-15, 6-12) in a Western State Conference North Division game at Oxnard.
Armando Carrillo (4-4), who pitched seven innings, and Ray Clinton, who pitched two to pick up his third save, combined on a four-hitter.
Hancock 5, Ventura 4--Casey Brooks scored the winning run for Hancock (23-11, 13-5) on a wild pitch with one out in the ninth inning of a WSC North Division game.
Brandon Knight (10-3) allowed five runs on four hits in 8 1/3 innings for Ventura (18-14-1, 10-8). He struck out seven and walked five. Knight had a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings before a two-run single followed three consecutive walks.
Moorpark 4, Santa Barbara 1--Trevor Leppard (4-3) struck out 13 for the Raiders (23-9, 13-5) in a WSC North Division game at Santa Barbara.
Alex Alvarenga, Ryan Briggs and Pat Queenen each had two hits for Moorpark.
