CHINATOWN : 3 Charged After State Inspects Fish Market

Three men were charged recently with violating state fish and game laws after an inspection of a Chinatown fish market.
State inspectors said they found illegal sand bass and under-legal-sized halibut offered for sale at La Man Wah Market, 758 New High St. Inspectors also said there were no accounting records, as required by state law, for sculpin and sole.
Inspectors said they also found a van with 325 pounds of assorted fish at the store without the required records.
Store owner Tang Dang, 58, of Santa Ana; store buyer Kim Phan, 34, of Bunker Hill, and fisherman Lien Nguyen, 29, of Bunker Hill face up to six months in jail and fines of $1,000 if convicted. Arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 24.
