Delta to Seek Regulatory OK for European Alliance: The Atlanta-based carrier said it will seek antitrust immunity from the U.S. Department of Transportation to expand its relationship with European carriers Swissair, Austrian Airlines and Sabena of Belgium. That would enable the carriers to boost their existing alliance by jointly setting fares, schedules, routes and promotions. Most U.S. airlines are involved in partnerships with other carriers that permit them to share passengers on interlocking routes, but antitrust laws prohibit sharing of key information. The long-anticipated move is viewed as another step by Delta Air Lines Inc. to generate profits on transatlantic routes. Delta said it was uncertain when it could expect to receive a decision.
