County to Raise Cost of Bus Transfer Passes

Ventura County bus riders who purchase special transportation passports that allow them to transfer easily between county transit operators will have to pay a little more for the pass in the future.
The county Transportation Commission on Friday unanimously approved a rate hike for the passports.
The new rates will jump from $34 to $40 for adult riders; from $26 to $30 for youths between the ages of 5 and 20; and from $15 to $20 for seniors, the disabled, and Medi-Cal and Medicare cardholders.
The increase was needed to better cover the cost of service provided by operators in areas from Simi Valley to Ventura, officials said. Currently, about 250 passports are sold each month.
