Update : * Follow-up on the news : COSTA MESA : Shalimar Assessment District Proposed
- Share via
Frustrated by years of trying to persuade Shalimar Drive landlords that it would be in their best interest to improve the alleys behind their apartment buildings, City Council members are taking the matter into their own hands.
The council this week proposed the creation of an assessment district to repave the alleys and improve lighting behind the apartment buildings.
Shalimar Drive landlord Carm Gullo said he supports the city’s proposal. Private efforts to improve the area have never been successful, he said, because many property owners have been unwilling to spend money for upgrades.
