Nordhoff 34, Fillmore 17--The Rangers parlayed the running of Russell Farrar and Greg Coleman and an aggressive pass defense to win at Fillmore.
Farrar rushed for 149 yards on 14 carries, including touchdowns of one and 43 yards, and Coleman gained 92 yards in 11 carries, with a one-yard score. Coleman also intercepted two passes.
Nordhoff defensive back Bobby Jones ran one of his three interceptions back 51 yards for a touchdown.
Fillmore was paced by quarterback James Cummings, who completed nine of 19 passes for 88 yards, including a 13-yard TD to receiver Jake Ellis. Cummings also rushed for 49 yards, with a seven-yard TD.
Ellis suffered a neck injury late in the fourth quarter and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for precautionary X-rays, according to a Fillmore Fire Department spokesman.
