Coach: Jeff Ehrlich (22nd year).
1994: 20-7 overall, 4-1 in the Century League; lost to El Toro, 8-7, in the first round of the Division I playoffs.
Key returners: Kyle Baumgarner, two-meter man, So.; Pete Cornue, driver, Sr.; Philip Johnson, defender/outside shooter, Sr.; Joey Pacelli, utility, Jr.; Brian Pharris, two-meter man, Sr.; Jon Pharris, goalkeeper, So.; Aaron Waldrip, two-meter man, Sr.
Key newcomers: Mike Nguyen, goalkeeper, Jr.; Nick Pacelli, utility, Fr.
Outlook: Villa Park had won four consecutive Century League titles before Foothill started dominating the league in 1992. The Spartans believe they have a team to give loaded Foothill a tough time. “If we can keep healthy, this could be one of the better teams we’ve had at Villa Park since 1989,” Ehrlich said. At 6-9 and 250 pounds, Waldrip is one of the biggest players in the county and this year he should be more involved in the offense. Brian Pharris and Cornue are four-year starters, Baumgarner started as a freshman, and Jon Pharris shared time at goalkeeper last year.
