Another day, another kicker for the 49ers.
Tony Zendejas was released after making only one of three field-goal attempts in three weeks with the team, and the 49ers made their third kicking hire of the season when they signed Jeff Wilkins.
Wilkins, a second-year player from Youngstown State, originally was an undrafted free agent signed by Dallas in 1994. He was cut in training camp and moved on to Philadelphia, where he handled kickoff duties for six games last season.
He has yet to kick a NFL field goal. During his collegiate career, he made 66 of 98 field-goal attempts, including a 54-yarder.
