Plans Underway to Make Sands Largest Resort: Plans are underway to expand the Sands Hotel into the world’s largest resort project with two 3,000-unit hotel-casinos on the Strip, Las Vegas Sands Inc. announced. The project will include a shopping center and entertainment and convention facilities, and will be located on 60 acres of Sands property. No other details or artist’s renderings will be available for a few months, Sands Hotel Chief Executive Arthur Waltzman said. An organization within the Las Vegas Sands is being formed to develop the project which executives described as a “major consumer experience.” The president of the parent company of Sands Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and two other officers were hired to oversee the expansion project.
