Re Tom Plate’s “Boy-Scout Wilsonianism Runs Amok in Congress” (Commentary, Nov. 28):
His wishful assumption that the next century may well be China’s is baseless, unless the Free World foolishly repeats the same mistake of making China an “evil empire” like it did to the USSR after World War II. When that day does come, the Pacific will be very muddy and bloody.
Through deceptive trade practices, China has robbed American workers of about 1 million manufacturing jobs in consumer goods. China is going after the jobs in aerospace, like Boeing’s, and automobile manufacturing, like General Motors’, etc. I wonder whose interest Plate is advocating, Chinese or American?
