OXNARD : Man Dies When Car Strikes Utility Pole

An Oxnard man died Monday when the car he was driving struck a utility pole, Oxnard police said.
Alfonso Martinez, also known as Abel Villanueva, was pronounced dead at the scene about 1:30 a.m., police said.
Martinez, 45, was traveling eastbound on Hueneme Road near Acturus Road, when his car veered off the road and struck the power pole, police said.
There were no other passengers or injuries, and there was no indication of alcohol being involved, police said.
