NBA ROUNDUP : Owens Injures Shoulder in Heat Loss
- Share via
The Miami Heat lost a player and then lost a game Monday night at Boston. Billy Owens left in the first quarter after colliding with the Celtics’ Todd Day and may have a separated right shoulder.
If losing their second-leading scorer wasn’t bad enough, Dee Brown’s layup with 2:32 to play in the second overtime gave Boston the lead for good. Rick Fox’s two free throws with 59 seconds left were the deciding points in the Celtics’ 121-120 victory over Miami that ended the Heat’s five-game winning streak.
Alonzo Mourning had 36 points and 14 rebounds for the Heat in the game that was marred by a second-quarter fight between Boston’s Pervis Ellison and Miami’s Kurt Thomas.
