Villanova Shuts Down Georgetown

Freshman John Celestand had a season-high 19 points and No. 6 Villanova held Allen Iverson to five points in the second half in a 79-66 victory over No. 8 Georgetown on Monday night at Philadelphia.
The Wildcats, 19-3 overall and 10-2 in the Big East, played without injured starting forward Eric Eberz and won their sixth consecutive game. The Hoyas (19-4, 9-3) had a two-game winning streak ended.
Kerry Kittles scored 17 points for Villanova, which opened the second half with a 19-5 run.
Iverson, who was six for 10 from the field in the first half and one for six in the second, finished with 22 points.

College Basketball Note
The Big Ten has reprimanded Michigan State’s Jon Garavaglia for striking a player during a weekend game at Purdue. The conference also accepted a one-game suspension imposed by the school on the junior forward.
