Pedestrian, 76, Dies After Hit by Jeep

VAN NUYS — A 76-year-old Van Nuys man was killed Wednesday when he was hit by a Jeep while jaywalking, Los Angeles police said.
Lyubov Grinshtat was hit by an eastbound Jeep driven by Morris Demayo, 57, of Encino, about 11:45 a.m. as he crossed Vanowen Street east of Matilija Avenue, LAPD Sgt. Ben Lee said.
Grinshtat hesitated in the middle of the crossing and was heading back to the curb when he was hit, Lee said. He died a short time later at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
