Three Players Ejected in Taft’s Physical Match at Chatsworth

Nick Burry’s direct free kick with 12 minutes remaining gave the Taft High boys a 1-1 Mid-Valley League tie Friday in a physical contest at Chatsworth that saw three players thrown out of the match.
Michael Preis scored for the Chancellors (9-8-4, 7-4-4) on a penalty kick in the 55th minute, after a hand-ball was called in the penalty area.
Preis was punched in the face following a first-half scuffle.
The tie allowed Chatsworth to clinch its second consecutive league title, while Augustine Baldioli made 13 saves in goal for Taft.
The Toreadors finished 5-11-3, 3-8-3.
Burroughs 1, Burbank 0--Sarkis Semerdzhyan scored his first goal of the season to propel the Indians (12-8-3, 5-5) into the playoffs in a Foothill League match at Burroughs.
Jose Munoz had six saves in the shutout, his eighth of the season.
GIRLS
Kennedy 1, Monroe 1--Brenda Alas scored for the Vikings (10-1-5, 8-0-5) in the final minute to force a tie, but Kennedy still clinched the League C championship at Monroe.
Nicole Hagouel scored for the Cougars (12-6-3, 11-0-3), who won their first league title in school history.
