Kaiser Fills No. 2 Post: Richard G. Barnaby has been named chief operating officer of the nation’s largest health maintenance organization. The job is the No. 2 executive post at Kaiser Permanente’s Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. Barnaby has been with Kaiser since 1962. The HMO has 6.7 million members in 16 states. Barnaby, a 34-year veteran of Kaiser, had been executive vice president of the company since 1994. The position of chief operating officer had been vacant for several years. The announcement was made by David Lawrence, chairman and chief executive.
