COUNTYWIDE : Judge to Speak on Use of Court Interpreters

A seminar designed to help attorneys and court interpreters communicate in the legal process is scheduled for Saturday.
Municipal Judge David W. Long, who is fluent in English and Spanish, will discuss using interpreters in court and common situations in which attorneys try to manipulate interpreters.
Attorney Terence Geoghegian, who writes the Language Police Column for the monthly Citations magazine, will offer tips to nonnative speakers of English on how to craft legal documents and other language-related tips.
Cost is $40 per person and a light lunch is included. The event starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. at the Ventura College of Law, 4475 Market St., Suite B.
