Primeau Keeps Red Wings on Fast Track

Keith Primeau had a goal and an assist at Detroit as the Red Wings beat the Washington Capitals, 4-3, in a battle of two of the NHL’s hottest teams.
The Red Wings won their eighth in a row at Joe Louis Arena and are 9-1-1 in their last 11 games overall. Washington lost for the first time since Jan. 31, ending its unbeaten streak at six games.

Chris Gratton had a goal and two assists at St. Petersburg, Fla., as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat Colorado, 4-2, to deny Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy his 300th career victory. . . . Theoren Fleury scored twice and the Calgary Flames beat the New York Islanders, 6-3, at Uniondale, N.Y. . . . Luc Robitaille led a late rally as the New York Rangers tied the Montreal Canadiens, 2-2, at New York. . . . Jeff Hackett made 36 saves and Bernie Nicholls scored twice, leading the Blackhawks to a 3-0 victory over the Boston Bruins at Chicago. . . Kevin Miller scored early in the third period as the San Jose Sharks tied the Ottawa Senators, 2-2, at Kanata, Canada.
