Lovato Strikes Out 15 in No-Hitter as Pierce Clobbers East L.A., 22-1

Kelly Lovato pitched a no-hitter and Lily Hernandez had a double and a home run as Pierce College routed East L.A., 22-1, Thursday in a nonconference softball game at Pierce.
Lovato (2-0) struck out 15 and walked one.
The Brahmas (2-0) had 20 hits but committed three errors leading to the Huskies’ run.
Irvine Valley 6, L.A. Valley 5--Kady Kepner had two hits, including a triple, but the Monarchs (0-2) lost a nonconference game at Valley.
MEN’S TRACK
Moorpark 126, Cuesta 42, West L.A. 19--Sabino Beltran nosed out Moorpark teammate Eleazar Hernandez in the 5,000 meters in the Western State Conference triangular meet, preventing Hernandez from scoring a distance sweep.
Both runners crossed the finish line in 15 minutes 31.9 seconds. Hernandez earlier had won the 800 in 2:03.1 and the 1,500 in 4:18.2.
